watched cinderella man a couple of days ago. TOTALLY RECOMENDED!! it's such a great movie. sooo touching, i felt like crying. but of course, to maintain the jantan macho status and all, i didn't cry laa...lol....i do want to make a review on the film, (heck, after my last film review on gol & gincu, who knows maybe russel or renee might drop a few line on my blog..hehe)....but sadly, i'm running out of time here...
the big news is, i'm gonna go back on board this weekend. my flight is on saturday night and i'm gonna heading for houston. quite jittery 'bout it since the news of hurricane rita that is predicted to hit that area...anyway, berserah lah kepada tuhan..hope u guys can pray for me too...i'm gonna be on board for 2 months. So, gonna be spending my ramadhan n syawal on board...sob...sob... :( sesape bermurah hati... hantar2 la kad raye /kuih raya /duit raye dekat aku...hehe
so,that's about it for now. i'll probably not gonna make any entry for at least 2 months..but hopefully when i return, i'm gonna have lots of stuff to tell n pictures to show..hehe....till then.selamat berpuasa, maaf zahir batin n slamat hari raya.... ciao.....

Teruja....

I went to the mines last thusday with Ros and her friend, Rose (no, that didn't confused me...hehe..) Rose's phone went kaput a few days earlier and she wanted to get herself a new one. After she bought her phone, we still had a lot of time to spare. Gol & Gincu started their screening that day. We thought, what a better way to support the Malaysian film industry than to watch a local movie.hehe....So, there we were, in the cinema, armed with bottles of mineral water. But one problem thought. Rose didn't brought her glasses (control ayu la tu ;P) and seated at the 3rd row from the back made it impossible for her to see the movie. Luckily, the cinema was mostly empty. So we shifted to the seats that are nearer to the screen. With that problem sorted, we sit back and enjoy the movie.....and boy, was I teruja.....
The story goes a 'lil sumthing like this. Putri (Fazura) just got ditched by his futsal-crazy boyfriend, Eddy (Ashraf Sinclair). You see, Putri, as her name suggests, is the 'princess' type of girl. You know, the ones who are so crazy 'bout fashions and all things girlish. Eddy, being a sporty type of fella, is getting bored with Putri, saying that she is too 'dependent' and that he wants 'a striker, not a cheerleader'. And so, they broke up.
But Putri still wants Eddy back (How stupid can a girl get?? hehe), so she decided to try her hands ( and feet) at futsal. That's when she met Zie ( Rafidah of 3R fame), who later became the coach and player of 'Bukan Team Biasa'. Eddy, on the other hand, got what he wished for in the form of Shasha ( Sazzy Falak). But sometimes, what we wished for doesn't always turns out the way that we wants it to be....
I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't watched the movie yet, which is something that you all should do. It's not often that you get a chance to see a Malaysian movie that's worth the ticket price.hehe...Some bloggers have even said that this movie is better than Sepet. I don't quite agree with that, but I have to admit that this is a fun movie to watch, with issues that are close to us, the Malaysian teens. The realistic dialogues also doesn't make you cringe ( watch this movie and learn Dato' Yusuf Haslam...haha). It does get a bit poyo at the start, but after a while, it gets better.
For me, the characters that draws my attention were not the 2 leading star. (Fazura's role was quite boring and Ashraf need to improve on his acting skills.) But the co-stars simply shines...Sharifah Amani for example played the role of 15-year old jiji very convincingly, continuing her superb performace just like in Sepet. The 2 AF2 stars, Anding and Zarina were said to have been casted to draw the AF fans crowd. Well, if I haven't read that fact in the newspaper, I certainly wouldn't have noticed them. Not that it's their fault. It's just that I'm not a fan of AF. ;P ..Anyway, Zarina as dayang was quite convincing. She played the role of mat rempit type of girl ( no offence here) and she sure rawks, especially when she's playing futsal. Seems like she's a natural player to me..heh..The same can't be said for Anding though. Playing the part of an unsupportive boyfriend of Sarah (Kartini), he lacks screen time. Heck, even his face was not clearly seen in the movie. That role could have been played by anybody else and nobody would notice the difference...
Pierre Andre as Reza did a good job. He didn't had much screen time either, but he managed to exudes his charm and sweetness. I'm sure lots of girls out there would be crazy 'bout him after they watched this movie..hehe. Ida nerina delivers as always. Zahim Albakri (that's his name i think) also did well as the father who loved his girls a 'lil bit too much.hehe
The castings for the other roles were spot on. Using talented newcomers (I assume) such as the actresses for the roles of J and Aisyah was a great move. They acted really well and being unknown actresses, it made you identifies with their issues much more easier. It's like seeing your next doors neighbours telling you their problems. And it's nice to see a big lady who doesn't feel sorry for herself in a malaysian movie for a change.
Other aspects of the movie was also great. The shot was wonderfully done ( I do question the scene where Putri plays futsal in the dark even after she has paid for the court, but it does look good...hehe) and the soundtrack fits the movie like a glove. I wonder if the soundtrack to this movie would be available soon.. hint* hint*...hehe
The only gripes that i have about this movie is the amount of product placements. It does make the viewrs feel like they are watching one reaalllyy long advertisement. But it's quite understandable since they need all the money they can get to help fund a movie such as this is Malaysia.
So, there you got it. Another milestone for Malaysian cineme.A Malaysian movie which is both fun and entertaining. I'm sure that critics won't panned the movie and casual movie goers will come out of the cinema with a smile on their face. Well done to Bernard Chauly and Rafidah......So what are you guys waiting for??? Go out and watch this movie. I assure you that it's better than those hyped indon movies which just disappoints, namely Tentang Dia and Unggu Violet. Kiamat Sudah Dekat is a different story...hehe

bought a mac mini a couple of weeks back. still trying to familiarise myself with mac osX. seems simple 'nuff, but still need some practise with most of the applications. Anybody can help me with this?? heh... wish i had bought office for mac too..hehe
as for the mac mini, it's simply superb.can't believe that such a small thing can pack in so much power.and it's really cheap too if you consider that it is a mac..heh...
again, i'm keeping this entry short. i'll write more when i have the time...ciao

thesis, exams and sepet......
Have been real busy lately chasing the dateline for the submission of my thesis. Got only 3 weeks to go and tons of stuff to do. Guess that's how things go when you do it at the last minute....next week are gonna be my last week of classes, before the study week began. The finals are gonna start on the 21st march. I'm a nervous wreck right now. But at the same time, I'm damn excited that I'm gonna leave this so-called higher learning institution soon...hehe
Besides my tight schedule, I still managed to watch Sepet last week. My partner were busy, so I had to watch it on my own. Haven't done that for awhile now, watching movie by myself.hehe...And boy, I sure didn't regret it. It was worth every cent of the ticket price. It's so damn good. Really!!! Go see it yourself if you don't belive me. It's so touching, so real. When it's funny, it's not funny in a "haha.why the hell did he do that" sort of way. It's more like "hey, i do that too" kinda funny. Get me??hehe...anyway, I might write about the movie later, after i watched it for the 2nd time...hehehe

laaazzzyyyyyyy
Ok, i admit it.I'm a lazy blogger. I haven't updated my site for a couple of months now and the last updates were all pics..hehe...yeah, I'm lazy, so sue me..hehehe
So, what's new eh?? For me, it's mostly the same old story. Busy with studies and project work. Finals coming up at the end of next month. I'll be going back to KL today for the Chinese New Year leave. I think this is gonna be my last chance to relax a bit. After this, I'll have no break until after graduation which is in June.Even that depends on whether I can pass the oral exam in 1 shot or not and that is not an easy task. The last time the orals were held, only 3 candidates out of 24 passed. That's a really scary thought for me....
Can't believe that it is already February 2005. Time sure flies huh. January was a good one. I had lots of fun outings and , at the same time, didn't flunk a single test. Hehe. Sure, the results were not great (I didn't get a single A), but it was still good, at least for another deans' list. Not sure if it is enough to help me qualify for the 1st class degree though. Personally, I don't think I can get it because my last sem's pointer quite bad and it drags my cgpa down (that's my punishment for being such a lazy f***er last semester..hehe). But my friends are pushing me for it. So, I'm trying, eventhough I know I'm still not giving my 100% for it. What can I say, I'm just so damn lazy. Someone kick me in the butt please....hehe... I guess I don't have those high achievers attitude that Kimah mentioned in her blog. That's not good, isn't it???
